Welcome and journey inland

After landing at Bandaranaike International Airport, meet your private chauffeur and begin Sri Lanka Classic Highlights at an easy pace. Plan time for Airport meet & greet, Scenic transfer, Relax in Sigiriya, and Dry-zone countryside. If the pace and local conditions allow, the day can also include Hotel check-in & leisure. At the heritage sites, allow time for walking, explanations and photographs rather than rushing between monuments. Comfortable footwear, drinking water and an unhurried walking pace make the ancient sites much more enjoyable, especially in warm weather.

Day 02

Sigiriya sunrise feel and Kandy culture

Sigiriya → Dambulla → Kandy

Today’s journey on Sri Lanka Classic Highlights runs Sigiriya to Dambulla to Kandy; the plan is full enough to be rewarding, but it still leaves room for traffic, weather and short breaks. Plan time for Sigiriya Rock Fortress, Dambulla Cave Temple, Kandy evening, and Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic. If the pace and local conditions allow, the day can also include Kandy Lake, Traditional Kandyan cultural dance show subject to schedule, and Golden Temple exterior. The ancient sites are easier to appreciate at a measured pace, especially in the midday heat, so short breaks are built in.

Day 03

Waterfalls and tea country

Kandy → Ramboda → Nuwara Eliya

On this part of Sri Lanka Classic Highlights, travel Kandy to Ramboda to Nuwara Eliya and spend the useful daylight hours on the places that make this section of Sri Lanka distinctive. Plan time for Kandy Lake & city viewpoint, Ramboda Falls, Tea plantation & factory visit, and Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic. If the pace and local conditions allow, the day can also include Royal Botanical Gardens, Peradeniya, Gregory Lake, Tea-estate panoramas, and Mountain-road scenery. Train seats are subject to availability and the mountain weather can change, so timings are adjusted without losing the main experiences.

Day 04

Sri Lanka’s iconic hill-country train day

Nuwara Eliya → Ella

The focus today is Nuwara Eliya to Ella, using the private vehicle to keep the sightseeing flexible rather than fixed to a large-group timetable. Plan time for Nuwara Eliya morning, Scenic hill-country train ride subject to seat availability, Ella evening walk, and Nanu Oya railway station. If the pace and local conditions allow, the day can also include Tea-estate and valley views from the train, Nine Arches Bridge, and Ella town & mountain views. Hill-country weather can change quickly, so viewpoints and short photo stops are best kept flexible.

Ella → Yala/Tissamaharama

Today’s journey on Sri Lanka Classic Highlights runs Ella to Yala/Tissamaharama; the plan is full enough to be rewarding, but it still leaves room for traffic, weather and short breaks. Plan time for Nine Arches Bridge, Ravana Falls viewpoint, Transfer to Yala region, and Yala jeep safari. If the pace and local conditions allow, the day can also include Tissamaharama Lake and Leopard and elephant habitat. Safari timing depends on park conditions and wildlife activity, so the exact drive window can be adjusted with local advice.

Day 07

Beach morning and departure

Bentota → Colombo/Airport

Finish Sri Lanka Classic Highlights with a relaxed final morning and enough time for the drive to Bandaranaike International Airport. Plan time for Bentota beach, Optional Colombo stop, Airport transfer, and Galle Face or Independence Square if flight time allows. The coastal part of the day stays unhurried, leaving room for a swim, café stop or extra time by the ocean. When conditions are good, the driver can keep the coastal timing relaxed so you are not leaving the beach simply to follow a rigid clock.
