After landing at Bandaranaike International Airport, meet your private chauffeur and begin Heritage & Hill Country Journey at an easy pace. Plan time for Airport welcome, Negombo lagoon, Rest after flight, and Negombo beach. If the pace and local conditions allow, the day can also include Comfortable refreshment stop if needed. The ancient sites are easier to appreciate at a measured pace, especially in the midday heat, so short breaks are built in.

Day 02

Sri Lanka’s ancient capital

Negombo → Anuradhapura

The focus today is Negombo to Anuradhapura, using the private vehicle to keep the sightseeing flexible rather than fixed to a large-group timetable. Plan time for Sacred city monuments, Ancient reservoirs, Evening heritage atmosphere, and Jaya Sri Maha Bodhi. If the pace and local conditions allow, the day can also include Ruwanwelisaya and Thuparamaya. At the heritage sites, allow time for walking, explanations and photographs rather than rushing between monuments. Comfortable footwear, drinking water and an unhurried walking pace make the ancient sites much more enjoyable, especially in warm weather.

Day 03

From ancient city to rock country

Anuradhapura → Sigiriya

Today’s journey on Heritage & Hill Country Journey runs Anuradhapura to Sigiriya; the plan is full enough to be rewarding, but it still leaves room for traffic, weather and short breaks. Plan time for Morning heritage sights, Scenic transfer, Sigiriya sunset viewpoint, and Sigiriya Rock Fortress. If the pace and local conditions allow, the day can also include Sigiriya Water Gardens and Lion’s Paw and summit ruins. At the heritage sites, allow time for walking, explanations and photographs rather than rushing between monuments.

Plan time for Royal palace ruins, Gal Vihara area, Optional elephant safari, and Royal Palace complex. If the pace and local conditions allow, the day can also include Sacred Quadrangle / Vatadage, Gal Vihara, and Lankatilaka Image House. At the heritage sites, allow time for walking, explanations and photographs rather than rushing between monuments.

Caves, spices and Kandy

Sigiriya → Dambulla → Kandy

Heritage & Hill Country Journey continues with a Sigiriya to Dambulla to Kandy day, combining the route’s main sights without turning it into a race. Plan time for Dambulla Cave Temple, Matale spice country, Kandy evening, and Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic. If the pace and local conditions allow, the day can also include Kandy Lake, Traditional Kandyan cultural dance show subject to schedule, and Golden Temple exterior. At the heritage sites, allow time for walking, explanations and photographs rather than rushing between monuments.

If the pace and local conditions allow, the day can also include Royal Botanical Gardens, Peradeniya, Tea plantation & factory visit, Gregory Lake, and Tea-estate panoramas. Train seats are subject to availability and the mountain weather can change, so timings are adjusted without losing the main experiences.

Highland train and Ella

Nuwara Eliya → Ella

Heritage & Hill Country Journey continues with a Nuwara Eliya to Ella day, combining the route’s main sights without turning it into a race. Plan time for Scenic hill-country train ride subject to seat availability, Mountain scenery, Ella leisure, and Nanu Oya railway station. If the pace and local conditions allow, the day can also include Tea-estate and valley views from the train, Nine Arches Bridge, and Ella town & mountain views. Hill-country weather can change quickly, so viewpoints and short photo stops are best kept flexible.

Day 08

Final highland views & departure

Ella → Colombo/Airport

The final day is kept flexible around your flight time, with the airport transfer taking priority over squeezing in unnecessary sightseeing. Plan time for Ella morning viewpoint, Scenic drive, Airport transfer, and Ella viewpoint if flight time allows. Train seats are subject to availability and the mountain weather can change, so timings are adjusted without losing the main experiences. There is also room for a warm drink or short viewpoint stop whenever the mountain road, cloud cover and visibility make it worthwhile.
