Airport → Negombo

Classic Sri Lanka Explorer begins at Bandaranaike International Airport, where your private chauffeur meets you for the first transfer of the journey. Plan time for Airport meet & greet, Short transfer, Lagoon/coast leisure, and Negombo Lagoon. If the pace and local conditions allow, the day can also include Negombo beach. The route stays flexible enough for traffic, opening times and spontaneous photo stops while protecting the day’s main sights. If you prefer more time at one stop, the less important short stops can be trimmed without changing the overall direction of the day.

Into the Cultural Triangle

Negombo → Sigiriya

The focus today is Negombo to Sigiriya, using the private vehicle to keep the sightseeing flexible rather than fixed to a large-group timetable. Plan time for Scenic transfer, Dambulla option en route, Sigiriya sunset, and Sigiriya Rock Fortress. If the pace and local conditions allow, the day can also include Sigiriya Water Gardens and Lion’s Paw and summit ruins. At the heritage sites, allow time for walking, explanations and photographs rather than rushing between monuments.

Sigiriya → Polonnaruwa → Minneriya/Kaudulla

Classic Sri Lanka Explorer continues with a Sigiriya to Polonnaruwa to Minneriya/Kaudulla day, combining the route’s main sights without turning it into a race. Plan time for Polonnaruwa ancient city, Village scenery, Optional elephant safari, and Royal Palace complex. If the pace and local conditions allow, the day can also include Minneriya or Kaudulla elephant safari selected by current wildlife conditions and Sacred Quadrangle / Vatadage. Wildlife sightings are never guaranteed; the benefit of a private programme is being able to adapt the safari timing and rest stops sensibly.

Plan time for Sigiriya Rock Fortress, Dambulla Cave Temple, Kandy evening, and Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic. If the pace and local conditions allow, the day can also include Kandy Lake, Traditional Kandyan cultural dance show subject to schedule, and Golden Temple exterior. If the pace and local conditions allow, the day can also include Tissamaharama Lake and Leopard and elephant habitat. The focus today is Yala to Galle, using the private vehicle to keep the sightseeing flexible rather than fixed to a large-group timetable. Plan time for Yala safari, South-coast drive, Galle Fort sunset, and Galle Lighthouse. If the pace and local conditions allow, the day can also include Fort ramparts and Dutch Reformed Church area. Safari timing depends on park conditions and wildlife activity, so the exact drive window can be adjusted with local advice.

Today’s journey on Classic Sri Lanka Explorer runs Galle to Bentota to Colombo; the plan is full enough to be rewarding, but it still leaves room for traffic, weather and short breaks. Plan time for Bentota beach, Madu River optional, Colombo evening, and Madu River boat safari optional. If the pace and local conditions allow, the day can also include Turtle conservation visit optional, Bentota watersports subject to conditions, and Resort leisure. Sea conditions and seasonal activities can change, so marine experiences are kept optional while beach time remains flexible.

Departure day is planned around check-out and flight timing, with only comfortable last stops added when there is a safe margin for the airport. Plan time for Colombo city tour, Shopping if time permits, Airport transfer, and Galle Face or Independence Square if flight time allows. The route stays flexible enough for traffic, opening times and spontaneous photo stops while protecting the day’s main sights.
